The Cosmere: The Ins and Outs! & Hoid!

Where to start in Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere?

All of Sanderson's non-earth based books are in a little universe called the Cosmere.

It's like The Dark Tower in that it connects all of the books. But this one is better and planned for the beginning.

Sanderson wanted to create series and worlds that stood alone, as stand-alone books or stand-alone series. But they would have Easter eggs hidden throughout them connecting other series.

So don't worry you can read these books/series workout touching the others. Though good luck. They are addictive.

In the future, there will be series connecting the series beyond Easter eggs. But we only know that's it's coming, we just don't know when.

Like the Second Coming. Though I hope Sanderson finishes the Cosmere before that.

Truth be told: that's my only fear, not being able to see the end of the Cosmere books.

So right now there is a character that travels the books: Hoid.

Hoid is in every book. Though is role is so small in some. Only on like one page.

Hoid is at work on something in the background.

**

I hate it when authors write different series and then tries to connect them, afterward. It fails and sucks.

Sanderson has this all plotted out. He knows what to add where and when. When you read his books you'll miss half of the stuff hidden.

Then go back, after reading all the published books, you'll see even more.

The Cosmere is so good, a production company is committed to spending 250,000,000 million dollars on just the first two movies: Mistborn & Way of Kings.

That's Lord of the Rings kinda money. Though this deal was made a year ago. So they Have Amazon beat with big money on big series.

No joke, big: Oathbringer is so big that they had to cut like 10% just so they could publish the hardcover. They are still trying to figure out how to publish the paperback. 1250 pages.

So, Colton, How do I get invested into this Cosmere?

Good question. Glad you asked.

You read the books.

But in what order, Colton?

You can read any series in any order.

But I recommend one of these:

Warbreaker

Mistborn #1: The Finale Empire

Mistborn #2: Well of Ascension

Mistborn #3: Heroes of Ages

Stormlight #1: Way of Kings

Stormlight #2 Words of Radiance

Stormlight #2.5 Edgedancer

Stormlight #3 Oathbringer

Elantris

Mistborn #4: Alloy of Law

Mistborn #5: Shadows of Self

Mistborn #6: Bands of Mourning

Or

Elantris

Stormlight #1: Way of Kings

Stormlight #2 Words of Radiance

Stormlight #2.5 Edgedancer

Stormlight #3 Oathbringer

Warbreaker

Mistborn #1: The Finale Empire

Mistborn #2: Well of Ascension

Mistborn #3: Heroes of Ages

Mistborn #4: Alloy of Law

Mistborn #5: Shadows of Self

Mistborn #6: Bands of Mourning

I'll be sure to add more Sanderson posts later. After all, this is named after him: Mistborn & Stormtroopers
